Anticipated PositionAssistant Superintendent of Business AdministrationThe Putnam Valley Central School District has an anticipated vacancy for an Assistant Superintendent of Business Administration beginning July 1, 2024.The Assistant Superintendent of Business Administration is responsible for the management of all financial operations of the Putnam Valley Central School District and reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The Assistant Superintendent of Business Administration must work collaboratively with staff and community stakeholders; bring new ideas and creative solutions to the table while engaging all constituents. In addition to business management, the Assistant Superintendent of Business Administration should possess a strong concentration in organizational leadership, planning, and allocating of resources. Individuals should foster a collaborative work environment, support team efforts, and implement best practices to sustain community support and support academic programs. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Collaborative work with the Superintendent of Schools, all department directors and building leaders to develop the school budget, implement student programs, long-range financial planning and maintain fiscal management over district expenditures.Annual budget preparation and presentation to the Board of Education.Comprehensive fiscal planning and budget development.Demonstrate leadership over all aspects of the business department including, payroll, benefits, accounts payable, tax collection, auditing, accounting, other pertinent fiscal responsibilities.Strengthening and implementing effective and efficient financial and budgetary internal processes and controlsAssisting in the creation of District policies and plans, advising district leaders of the financial, procedural and related implications of programs and proposed changes in laws, rules, policies and proceduresParticipating in all aspects of the collective bargaining process, including compensation analysis, budgetary implications, and regional comparisons. Maintain knowledge of current and proposed state and federal laws governing the control and distribution of school district finances and accountability reporting.Collaborates with administrators, architects, attorneys, and financial advisors in planning, contracting, and constructing new facilities and/or capital improvement projects.Supervises business office staff involved in bookkeeping, payroll and benefits, cost analysis, auditing, tax collection, food services, and school property management.Perform other related assignments as requested by the Superintendent of Schools.Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree and certification as a New York State School Business Administrator (SBA) or School District Business Leader (SDBL). Experience in school district accounting and in all business office functions including tax levy preparation; demonstrates skills in supervision of business office personnel; able to orchestrate budget preparation and prepare tax cap calculations. Knowledge of educational financial management systems preferred.This is a 12-month administrative position, and anticipated to begin July 1, 2024.
