~ Community Opportunity Resilience Empowerment ~Anticipated PositionSpecial Education SupervisorAnticipated July 1, 2025The Putnam Valley Central School District has an anticipated vacancy for a Special Education Supervisor. The primary role of the Special Education Supervisor is to assist in providing routine oversight, monitoring, and leadership of the instructional and administrative functions of the Student Services and Special Education staff. The Special Education Supervisor assists the Director of Pupil Personnel with the implementation of Special Education services for grades K-12 while adhering to federal and state procedural regulations. Assists building Principals and the Director of Pupil Personnel in the supervision and evaluation of all special education staff. Ensure the appropriate delivery of Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for students on the Special Education Teacher caseloads.Duties: Supervises and coordinates all activities of the District Committee on Special Education (CSE).Implements procedures mandated by part 200 of the Commissioner's Regulations.Chairs CSE meetings and provides notification of its recommendations to Board of Education, central office administrators, building principals, special education staff and parents/guardians.Assists in preparing all official reports relating to special education as required by the state and federal governments.Establishes and monitors procedures that ensure timely evaluations, recommendations, and placements of all students referred to the CSE for special education services. Establishes procedures that ensure timely placement in Extended School Year (ESY) programs for all special education students who have been recommended for 12-month programming. Assist with the hiring, placement, and supervision of faculty and staff that work in the ESY program.Ensures a review of each student is conducted by the CSE annually.Ensures the confidentiality of all official reports and records relating to special education students. Plans and coordinates all activities necessary to the administration of out-of-district evaluations which have resulted from CSE recommendations.Assists in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new special education personnel. Assists in managing the special education budget, including general fund and special aided programs.Oversight of the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE).Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel.Qualifications: New York State School District Leader certification. Prior CSE Chairperson experience is preferred.Salary is as per the Putnam Valley Administrator’s Association (PVAA) collective bargaining agreement.
