Director of Pupil Personnel Services(Anticipated July 2, 2025 - Probationary Appointment) The Director of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS), under the supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, is responsible for developing, promoting, supervising, administering, and providing leadership at Putnam Valley Schools Pupil Personnel Department. Incumbent works closely with building principals and other administrators to assure effective and balanced PPS service programs in each school of the Putnam Valley Central School District.Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:Previous administrative experience in special education is preferred.Comprehensive experience chairing CSE, CPSE and 504 meetings.Extensive experience developing IEP and 504 plans.Experience in impartial hearings and the mediation/resolution process as required.Proven experience developing and implementing strategic plans.Comprehensive knowledge of federal and State legal requirements governing special education, homelessness, and homebound instruction for students requiring special education services. Proven experience developing and managing district wide budgets under PPS, federal and state grants, and reporting requirements.Comprehensive knowledge of instructional best practice and structures that support student learning, especially as they apply to special education programs and practices, and related services.Experience using data and evidence to establish clear and measurable goals to monitor students’ progress and evaluate instructional programs.Expertise in the hiring, supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff to promote professional growth and ensure high standards of professional accountability in diverse educational settings.Expertise as instructional leader, capable of serving as a lead professional developer for a diverse and talented student services faculty.Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and community agencies, including students, parents, faculty and administration, CPSE agencies, BOCES administrators, private and residential schools, the courts, and other school districts in a shared commitment to the goals of the district and improving services to students.Special education services, psychological and social work programs and services, speech services, guidance-type activities, and medical services related to the Committee on Special Education. State and County funding programs reports and applications.Oversees the student registration and residency program.Hiring, supervision and evaluation of PPS and/or Special Education faculty and staff.Performs other related tasks that are requested by the Superintendent of Schools.Schedule: 12-month position.Qualifications: NYS School District Leader certification required. Previous administrative experience in special education is preferred.Salary: $150,000 - $180,000/yearBenefits: Excellent health, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
