Position: Probationary School Counselor – Middle SchoolQualifications: NYS School Counselor Certification Required. Middle School Experience Preferred.Location: Port Jefferson Middle SchoolHours: 7:25 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.Salary: In accordance with the negotiated agreement with the Port Jefferson Teachers’ AssociationEffective: 2024-2025 School YearResponsibilities:• Develop and maintain strong connections with students and families• Monitor the academic performance and attendance habits of students• Support students and families through referrals to school or community resources• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and the community to support student achievement and wellness• Contribute to the Instruction Support Team (IST) Meetings• Assess student interests and abilities to help foster a strong sense of student belonging• Assist students in developing both short-term and long-term goals• Collaborate with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom setting to support their academic, social and emotional development• Assist in the creation of the Middle School Master Schedule• Ensure each student’s program consists of the appropriate number of credits• Embrace a restorative mindset in an effort to promote a positive school climateIn addition to the OLAS application, please download and complete the Port Jefferson School District supplemental application.The application is located at:https://portjeffschools.org/departments/human_resourcesThank you for your interest in Port Jefferson School District.
