ANTICIPATED OPENINGMusic Teacher-Leave Replacement-POBJFK High School OrchestraThe Plainview-Old Bethpage Department of Music and Performing Arts seeks a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join the music staff for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to engage students through their music classes and foster a positive environment while maintaining a culturally responsive disposition. This position will also support The POBJFKHS Orchestra Program from grades 9-12, which will include ensembles, lessons, and chamber ensembles.Responsibilities: - Knowledge of orchestra instruments (NYSSMA Level 5-6)- Presentation of the Orchestra Spring Concert- Prepare for NYSSMA Majors and level 4, 5, and 6 ensembles- Preparing Students for NYSMMA and All State Solo Festival- Understanding of audio technology including live sound (amps, mixers, etc.) and electric string instruments- Working directly with the Director of Music and Performing Arts for initiatives and attending required meetings- Working with building administration for special events as per request- Create lessons aligned with the New York State Standards for the Arts revolving around Performing, Creating, Responding, and Analyzing- Create a positive engaging, and culturally responsive classroom- Understanding of integrative music technology (such as Sight-Reading Factory)Requirements: - New York State Initial or Professional Certification in Music K-12- Excellent Communication and organizational skillsLocation: POB JFK High SchoolEffective Date: April 23, 2026 Salary: As per contractDeadline: Friday, February 13, 2026
