ANTICIPATED OPENING 2024-2025PHYSICAL THERAPIST-PART TIME (.4)The Plainview-Old Bethpage CSD is seeking a skilled and dedicated part time (.4) School-Based Physical Therapist (PT) to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing physical therapy services to students with diverse needs, including those with physical disabilities, motor challenges, and health impairments. This role focuses on enhancing students’ physical functioning and participation in the educational environment. Key Responsibilities: Assessments & Evaluation: Conduct thorough physical assessments to identify students’ motor abilities, strengths and areas of need. Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results.Intervention & Therapy: Provide individualized and group physical therapy sessions to improve students’ gross motor skills, mobility, strength, balance and coordination. Develop and implement exercises and activities tailored to each student’s needs. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate physical therapy strategies into the classroom environment. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of IEP goals. Environmental Modifications: Recommend and implement modifications to the school environment to support students’ physical access and participation. This may include adaptive equipment, mobility aids, and accessibility solutions.Consultation & Training: Provide expert advice & training to teachers, parents, and other school staff on strategies to support students’ physical therapy needs. Promote understanding and awareness of the role of PT in the educational setting. Progress Monitoring & Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, therapy sessions, and other relevant documentation. Prepare reports for IEP meetings and other administrative purposes.Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and best practices in physical therapy. Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and contribute to the professional growth of the school community.Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations involving students with significant physical or mobility challenges. Qualifications: Education: Doctoral or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.Certification: Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist. Certification from the American Board of Physical Terapy Specialists (ABPTS) is preferred.Skills: Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.Experience in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.Proficiency in using adaptive equipment and mobility aids.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.Salary: As per contractDeadline: Tuesday, July 16, 2024
