ANTICIPATED OPENING 23-24World Languages Teacher (ASL) High School Leave ReplacementThe Plainview-Old Bethpage World Languages Department is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a teacher of American Sign Language leave replacement apointment. As a key member of our educational community, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students while fostering a positive and culturally responsive learning environment teaching. Our high school ASL program spans level 1 through 4. In level 4 class, through our partnership with Adelphi University, students have the opportunity to earn up to 6 college credits in ASL. Additionally, our level 3 students take the Checkpoint B examination in June. Start Date: On or about May 13, 2024 through June 30, 2024 Responsibilities: - Develop and implement lesson plans that align with revised NY World Language Standards and be sensitive to diverse learning - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and cultural awareness- Collaborative with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices- Utilize high leverage instructional strategies to support language acquisition and proficiency in American Sign Language- Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues Key Qualifications: - Motivated and passionate about teaching American Sign Language and culture- Collaborative mindset, eager to work in a team-oriented environment- Culturally responsive approach to teaching, valuing, and incorporating diverse perspectivesRequirements: - Current and active NYS Department of Education Certificate in American Sign Language 7-12- Demonstrated proficiency in both ASL and English- Strong organizational and communication skillsSalary: As per contractDeadline to apply: Wednesday, March 20, 2024
