ANTICIPATED OPENING 2024-2025MUSIC TEACHER (MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL-BAND) FULL TIME-PROBATIONARYThe Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District Music Department is seeking a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Middle School Music Teacher, specifically for 5th and 6th Grade Band. This position is a probationary position, and you will Have the opportunity to inspire and engage students while fostering a positive and culturally responsive learning environment. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement engaging lessons that align with the New York State Standards for Music Education- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning for a diverse group of students- Collaborative with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleaguesKey Qualifications: - Motivated and passionate about teaching music- Background in band pedagogy, methodology, and instrumentation- Fluency in brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments- Ability to conduct band ensembles- Candidates should be familiar with the NYSSMA Manual, current trends in music education, and familiar with the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), the Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA), and the New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA)- Experience using integrative instructional music technology- Marching Band experience is preferred but not requiredRequirements: - New York State teaching certification in Music K-12 (Initial or Professional)- Excellent ensemble conducing skills- Strong communication and organizational skillsEffective Date: 2024-2025Salary: As per contractDeadline to Apply: Monday, April 1, 2024
