Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a vacancy for an experienced Teaching Assistant for the 2025-26 school year to assist classroom teachers in the instruction and management of students with severe/multiple disabilities in the Pines Bridge at Sunshine program. Must be able to conduct class in Teacher’s absence. The position requires an ability and willingness to assist students in areas such as managing behavior, lifting and assisting to enable all self-care activities, mobility, communication, therapies, and feedings. The position is located at Sunshine Children’s Home in Ossining, NY which is governed by the Department of Health. As a result, candidates will be required to go through a medical clearance process through Sunshine.Qualifications: Certification as a Teaching Assistant or Teacher (Special Education preferred) required.Characteristics Desired: Ability to assist students with toileting needs, transfers, feedings, and positively manage student behavior. Must have good interpersonal skills, be organized, dependable, flexible and have the ability to work in a team environment. Successful candidate must be committed to the PNW BOCES mission of service and innovation through partnership.
