Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking a Behavior Training Specialist within our Regional Partnership Center. The Behavior Specialist will provide training and technical assistance to schools across the Lower Hudson region. The work will be consistent with NYSED OSE required training, under the direction of the Systems Change Facilitator (Director) and in consideration of the recommendations of the NYSED OSE resource planning process. Duties may include, but are not limited to:Providing targeted professional development and technical assistance on issues related to social-emotional and behavioral health within multi-tiered systems of support as determined through the regional planning process;Providing technical assistance and support to OSE identified school districts to implement and sustain positive behavioral approaches and effective behavior management practices;Work professionally and collaboratively with the Lower Hudson Regional Partnership Center Staff and Family and Community Engagement Center staff, NYSED OSE associates and partners to develop and carry out the regional work plan;Participate in NYSED OSE designed professional development activities including trainings in Albany (as needed), monthly webinars, online learning opportunities, and monthly regional meetings;Provide training data and other requested information to the TAP for Data and NYSED OSE;Lead professional development, technical assistance and coaching to staff in schools, districts and programs across the Lower Hudson Valley on topics related to behavior and services for students with disabilities;Conduct regional needs assessments to inform decision-making;Facilitate district and school teams in developing and implementing improvement plans that improve outcomes of students with disabilities;Monitor implementation of activities and impact on student outcomes;Document work and submit required reports to the NYSED Office of Special Education.Qualifications:Master’s degree or higher in special education, education, psychology, school psychology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, and/or a related field preferred;NYS licensure in psychology, school psychology, teaching, special education, counseling, and/or vocational rehabilitation preferred;At least five years of direct teaching or provision of psychology services with, or providing training on, technical assistance relating to positive behavioral outcomes for students with disabilities in schools and/or community service agencies preferred;At least five years of experience as a teacher, counselor, school psychologist, transition coordinator, or related service provider with students with disabilities preferred;Experience providing training, coaching, and engaging in school improvement work preferred;Experience facilitating the Tiered Fidelity Inventory, Benchmarks of Quality and other implementation fidelity assessments;Excellent oral and written communication skills;Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;Passion for collaboration and experience facilitating school improvement teams;Experience using web-based educational tools and technologies (e.g., Zoom, WebEx, etc.);Knowledge of federal and state special education law, regulations, and policy, and evidence-based practices for behavior;Knowledge of NYSED Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework and Blueprint for Improved Results for Students with Disabilities;Knowledge of the latest research regarding the implementation of evidence-based practices in behavioral science and how behavior intersects within a multi-tiered system of support;A commitment to the PNW BOCES mission of service and innovation through partnership.Characteristics Desired:Passionate commitment and demonstrated effectiveness in improving behavior and school outcomes of students with disabilities;Experience delivering professional development and strong team leadership skills;Regularly travel by car to schools across Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
