Duties: Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a full-time opening for a Senior Custodial Worker (Evenings). Candidate will be responsible for daily cleaning and safety conditions of BOCES facilities. Other responsibilities will include:Supervising, instructing and assigning tasks to custodial and cleaning staff;Performing or overseeing routine maintenance tasks related to building operating systems;Assigned to clean, paint, make minor electrical and plumbing repairs, cut grass, rake leaves and snow removal;Arranging special set-up of activities as programs require;Making recommendations for the ordering of custodial supplies and equipment, and participating in the hiring process for custodians and cleaners;May use computer applications including spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software in performing work assignments.Qualifications: Good knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment;Working knowledge of the tools, terminology, and practices of one or more skilled trades;Ability to perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks; ability to plan and supervise the work of others.Must be able to follow and give clear written and verbal directions;Must be able to use or learn computer applications, spreadsheets and database software programs as related to duties;Must be physically able to perform all job-related duties;Maintain a valid driver's license for the duration of employment;Must obtain clearance for employment from NYS Education Department based on fingerprinting and criminal history background check; Must qualify through Civil Service.
