Duties: The Culturally Responsive Educator will:Provide professional development, technical assistance and coaching to staff in schools, districts and programs across the Lower Hudson valley on: -- Increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion -- Implementation of culturally responsive practices -- Reducing or correcting disproportionalityIn collaboration with other Regional Partnership Center specialists:Conduct regional needs assessments to inform decision-makingFacilitate district and school teams in developing and implementing improvement plans that impact outcomes of students with disabilitiesMonitor implementation of activities and impact on student outcomesCollaborate with Family & Community Engagement Centers to deliver trainings on:Supporting families of students with disabilitiesImproving communication between families and districtsDocument work and submit required reports to the NYSED Office of Special EducationQualification: Master’s degree in special education, TESOL, Bilingual extension and/or a related fieldA minimum of five years experience as a teacher or related service provider with students with disabilities at the elementary or secondary levelA minimum of two years experience working with students from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgroundsExperience providing professional development and engaging in school improvement workPreferred qualifications: Experience implementing culturally responsive practices Working knowledge of the CR-S framework Knowledge of special education law, regulations and policy A commitment to the PNW BOCES mission of service and innovation through partnershipCharacteristics Desired: Passionate commitment and demonstrated effectiveness in improving outcomes for students with disabilitiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsUp-to-date knowledge of research on educational practicesStrong professional development and team leadership skillsAble to participate in one overnight trip to Albany annually, and to travel to schools and districts across Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties on a weekly basis
