Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates an opening for a Social Worker to work with students with disabilities attending PNW BOCES programs. Depending upon assignments, duties may include completing social histories, working with students' families and support networks, collaborating with other professionals and/or agencies that provide services, providing referral and linking services for both students and families, conducting needs and threat assessments, assisting families in completing necessary applications for recommended services, providing indicated IEP individual and group counseling services, organizing and running parent support groups, completing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans, and maintaining accurate documentation of services provided.Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have knowledge/experience with the regulations and trends pertaining to special education, including transition planning. MSW, CSW, School Social Worker Certification is required. Bilingual candidates and BCBA certifications preferred.Characteristics Desired: Extensive knowledge of approaches for students with autism, emotional disabilities, and/or multiple disabilities. Ability to positively manage student behavior in a school setting. Must be organized and have ability to work in multiple teams. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
