The Pleasantville Union Free School District is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services and Human Resources to assist the Superintendent of Schools in planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating student support services, inclusive of special education, and human resource services for the District. A thorough knowledge of all programs, laws and regulations relative to student support services, special education, and human resources is required. The Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services and Human Resources will be involved in decisions that have significant impact upon students, their families, individual school sites, District staff and the District as a whole. The ability to effectively coordinate services, programs and staff designed to meet the needs of students is crucial. Candidates must hold School District Leader or equivalent certification. The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services and Human Resources shall include but are not limited to the following:Work closely with Director of Special Education and staff, building principals, assistant principals, special educators, and support staff (school psychologists, school counselors, occupational therapist and speech & language therapists) to provide leadership for and supervision of the Special Education department.Disseminate information to ensure that staff members are well informed and up to date with current developments in the field, including revisions to federal and state laws and regulations.Oversee the recruitment and selection of new staff, in cooperation with the Superintendent, taking care to enlist the advisory assistance of other administrators where appropriate.Ensure coordination of and compliance with all programs and proposals related to Special Education, Section 504, Student Support Services and Human Resources with Board of Education policy, federal and state regulations.Oversee the operation of the CSE and CPSE.Develop Special Education and Section 504 services and programs to meet mandated requirements and individual pupil needs.Identify budgetary needs in the areas of Student Support Services, Special Education and Human Resource services and participate in the development of the District’s annual budget.Supervise the expenditure of funds for Special Education including the department operating budget and accounting for funded grants.Act as the District McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison and ENL Coordinator.Supervise pre-employment processing, recommend assignments, and provide orientation to new employees in cooperation with appropriate administrators and/or directors/supervisors.Assist the Superintendent of Schools in developing long range and annual staffing plans.Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.Letter of interest, resume, certification(s), and transcript(s) must be attached to the OLAS application.
