Port Chester Middle SchoolPort Chester Middle School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Health/Physical Education Teacher. We are looking for individuals who are committed to student success and are passionate about fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement.Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues.Support all students with diverse needs (ENL, IEP, 504, etc.).Encourage family involvement in each student’s education and ensure effective communication with students and families.Promote a classroom environment that is safe and welcoming for all students.Communicate effectively orally and in writing.Teach students about various health- and physical education-related topics, including nutrition, mental health, substance abuse, disease prevention, physical fitness, and personal safety.Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and critical thinking.Collaborate with school counselors, administrators, and parents to support students’ well-being.Stay updated on current health and physical education trends, research, and best teaching practices.Provide the differentiation and accommodations needed for the growth and success of all students; go above and beyond to ensure that all students are meeting appropriate standards.Appropriately give and receive feedback to/from students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:In-depth knowledge of social-emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL.Thorough knowledge of the NYS Health and Physical Education Learning Standards.Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Required possession of New York State K-12 Physical Education Teacher Certification and Health Certification.
