The Port Chester Public Schools is seeking highly motivated and dynamic Special Education Teacher to deliver engaging instruction to a diverse middle school student body.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and utilize instructional materials appropriate for verbal and visual instruction for students with varying levels of mental, physical, and emotional development.Align instruction and coaching with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, design, and expected outcomes.Provide individualized and group instruction to meet diverse student needs and ensure a successful school transition.Establish and maintain classroom management standards to ensure effective participation in all activities.Evaluate students' academic and social growth and maintain accurate records.Deliver instruction and activities that align with school and district policies, goals, and objectives.Communicate with parents using various communication methods.Conduct parent conferences to discuss individual student progress and interpret the school program.Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to assess and address health and learning concerns.Create a conducive learning environment with functional and visually appealing displays, such as bulletin boards and interest centers.Maintain professional competence through district-provided in-service education, professional development activities, and university courses.Collaborate with the appropriate administrator to develop an evaluation method following district guidelines.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDCandidates must possess current NYS certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities - all grades).
