The following position will be available for the 2022-2023 school year: Position: Instructional Support Services Specialist – Literacy K-5 (Leave replacement) Certification Required: Childhood Education Grades 1-6; or Nursery, Kindergarten and Grades 1-6 or NYS Certification in Literacy Birth-6 or Reading preferred Duties include but are not limited to: Train and support teachers in the development and implementation of district literacy programs aligned to the current NYS standards Train and support teachers in their implementation of ARC Core and Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curricula Assist with the review and evaluation of elementary literacy programs to ensure effectiveness and best-practice implementation Collaborate with RTI building representatives to ensure consistency among buildings in RTI programming, data collection and services; collaborate with building principals, Supervisor of K-8 Teaching and Learning, and the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessments to support RTI instruction Co-facilitate quarterly RTI round-table discussions with RTI building representatives and collaborate with RTI consultants Assist teachers and principals in the analysis and utilization of student assessment data to inform instructional practices Collaborate with Literacy consultants to support teachers and administrators in the ARC curriculum through coaching, model lessons, curriculum articulation discussions, map updates and the consideration of instructional resources Work across school buildings and with K-5 and ELL/BIL Instructional Support Specialists to ensure consistency of all ELA programs and practices horizontally and vertically Assist with aligning curriculum and improving instruction, including evaluation of new material and software pilots Work in collaboration with the Instructional Support Services Specialists – K-5 Literacy and K-5 ELL/Bilingual - to ensure best practices in literacy for all elementary students Analyze, interpret and share assessment data including STAR, IRLA/ENIL, NYSED to assist teachers in instruction and grouping Work with the Instructional Support Services Specialist – K-5 ELL/Bilingual - to ensure best practices and scaffolding for ELLs are infused in literacy instruction throughout elementary grades Recommend instructional improvements in literacy 3-5 to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessments; communicate ELA instructional information to teachers and parents Work with Instructional Support Specialists K-5 Literacy and K-5 ELL/Bilingual to alignment between grades and schools in ELA/literacy practices and student expectations Assist with the implementation and organization of elementary summer programming and assessment readiness programs Assist with all aspects of state and local assessment preparation and administration as needed Work with building principals to inventory ELA materials and provide feedback on resources needed for instruction Work with building principals and Curriculum Office on supply orders for ELA materials Plan and present at Parent University workshops Make recommendations to update and align assessment calendar and report cards to current standards Collect and analyze writing samples and student data to discuss student growth, plan PD, model lessons, and work with staff on alignment and improvement plans Work with MS staff and administration to ensure a smooth transition between grades 5-6 in ELA/literacy practices, curriculums, writing portfolios, and student expectations Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his or her designee Applications will be collected until the position is filled.
