The Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District is hiring a Secretary to the Principal (Spanish Speaking) Elementary School for the 23-24 School year. This is a Civil Service Title, so candidates must hold the title of Secretary to the School Principal Spanish Speaking REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Thoroughknowledge of the responsibilities of an executive secretary; thorough knowledge ofgeneral business terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of businessEnglish, spelling and arithmetic; good knowledge of the capabilities of computer systemsequipment to produce various formats/documents such as correspondence, reports,tables, charts and file storage/retrieval; ability to manipulate a standard alphanumerickeyboard at a rate of not less than 35 words per minute; ability to effectively use computerapplications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and databasesoftware; ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions; ability tocompose and edit routine letters and memoranda; ability to handle administrative detailsindependently; ability to deal effectively with others; ability to read, write and conversefluently in the Spanish language at a level sufficient to pass a Spanish languageproficiency test; ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficientlyto perform the essential functions of the position; ability to compile data and preparereports; ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with others; clericalaptitude; accuracy; resourcefulness; initiative; physical condition commensurate with theduties of the position.MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high schoolor possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either (a) five (5) years ofsecretarial experience, three (3) years of which the primary function of the positioninvolved the use of computer applications to maintain records and producecorrespondence; or (b) graduation from a post high school secretarial or business schoolwith a degree or certificate* in secretarial sciences, office technology or closely relatedfield and three (3) years of the specialized experience using computer applications asdescribed in (a).SUBSTITUTION: Satisfactory completion of 30 college credits** may be substituted on ayear for year basis for up to four (4) years of the secretarial experience described above.Candidates must have at least one (1) year of the specialized experience using computerapplications described in (a).*NOTE 1: A certificate program is defined as the successful completion of a minimum of6-8 courses of study and results in the issuance of a certificate.**SPECIAL NOTE: Education beyond the secondary level must be from an institutionrecognized or accredited by the Board of Regents of the New York State Department ofEducation as a post-secondary, degree-granting institution.NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, only experience gained after attaining the minimumeducation levelApply on OLAS
