It is anticipated that the following district-wide position will be available for the 2023-2024 school year effective July 1, 2023:The Port Chester School District encourages all qualified and committed applicants for a newly restructured administrative position, Co-Principal of the Middle School. Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, two co-principals will jointly and collaboratively lead the school and manage operations with the support of two Assistant Principals. Principal duties and responsibilities will be shared and divided according to skills and experience. Our District believes, and research validates, that this model will effectively improve our ability to meet the needs of all students and teachers, meet our programmatic goals by increasing the time and skills devoted to the work, and model the collaborative and professional decision-making that aligns with our teaching and learning philosophy. SBL or SAS certification, and experience as a Building Principal is preferred. Experienced Assistant Principals are also encouraged to apply.THE PCSD is seeking a Co-Principal with the following skills, interests and abilities:*Increases high academic standards by overseeing all aspects of teaching and learning, using data to make instructional and curricular improvements, and working with the Superintendent and designees to increase student outcomes, student agency opportunities and overall accountability *Demonstrates a deep belief that all students can thrive in a challenging, high-quality, nurturing, and supportive learning environment *Sees himself/herself as a Lead Learner *Works closely with the administrative team and School to execute a common vision for the school, and align the school community around a prioritized plan to achieve that vision *Inspire and motivate key members of the school community to support the mission of the school *Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an open and engaging communication style. Fluency in Spanish is advantageous, but not required *Comfortable collaborating with Co-Principal peer, faculty, staff, and parents, using streamlined and timely communication. *With the Co-Principal, serve as the enthusiastic, charismatic ambassador of PCMS *Leads colleagues in their professional growth through modeling effective practices, articulating connections between instructional choices and student outcomes, coaching, observing instruction, and providing actionable feedback. *Creates ongoing opportunities for shared leadership regarding protocols, team leader roles, and collaborative strategies. *Works collaboratively with leadership to develop both long-term and short-term strategic plans to support school growth and improvement aligned with district goals and the school vision *Guides and supports the implementation of our assessment systems and supports the staff in being strategic in the use of data to inform and improve instruction *Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, student voice, and student learning *Exhibits strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with an ability to manage concurrent projects and priorities effectively*Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents *Motivates staff and brings a positive tone, an eye for solutions, and an energy for high achieving outcomes *Communicates effectively with both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and courageous in giving supportive feedback *Understands effective scheduling for increased student outcomes and opportunities: master schedule, teacher schedules, student schedules, and organizes extracurricular activities *Invests in continued growth of the school, attending functions and engaging with families *Interest in maintaining the warm, welcoming culture of PCMS *Further integrate technology into the school *Lead and support ongoing professional development, and professional collaboration amongst the staff, including professional learning communities and common planning time *Operationalizes the school’s inclusive philosophy by providing training and support for RtI/MTSS implementation, differentiation, and ELL support *Works closely with parents, teachers, students, and CSE to ensure our students receive necessary services *Demonstrates ability to meet goals and drive impact for students who require nontraditional methods/practices for increased outcomes - mentorship, etc. All other duties as determined by the Superintendent, or his/her designee.
