Position: Director of ELL and Bilingual Programs Grades K-12 – District-wide Certification Required: NYS Certification in TESOL and/or Bilingual Extension, SDA/SDLDuties include but are not limited to: Federal and State Projects Assist with development of applications for federal and state grant programs: Title I, Title III, Extended Day, and Bilingual Education grants Provide oversight and ensure district-wide compliance with CR Part 154 Coordinate ELL/Bilingual Education grant budgets District Wide Responsibilities Review and evaluate and make recommendations for K-12 ELL/ Bilingual programs to ensure effectiveness and best-practice implementation Conduct formal and informal observations of ELL/ Bilingual teachers Collaborate to coordinate kindergarten and new entrant screening for placement of ELL/Bilingual students and newcomers Establish and assist in developing newcomer programs Manage requests by professional staff or approval of graduate courses, in-service courses and conferences related to ELL/Bilingual Services Collaborate with administration on evaluating professional development needs of teachers and creating PD opportunities in ELL/Bilingual programming in compliance with Part 154 Work with the K-5 Instructional Support Specialists for ELL/Bilingual Programs, the Academic Learning Specialists and the Department Chairs to align and plan for ELL/Bilingual curriculum K-12 and transitioning between levels Oversee instructional staff as assignedELL Bilingual Coordination Evaluate and recommend instructional improvements in ELL/Bilingual programs Conduct formal and informal teacher observations of ELL/Bilingual staff members Coordinate administration and scoring of NYSESLAT; oversee NYSESLAT coordinators Conduct and Facilitate ELL/Bilingual teacher departmental/team meetings Participate in interviewing & hiring process for ELL/Bilingual staff members Assist with master scheduling of teachers/students for ELL/Bilingual programs Organize and conduct parent workshops with ELL/Bilingual teachers, guidance counselors and principals Collaborate with all departments and administration to align curriculum and improve instruction for ELLs Coordinate the implementation and organization of the ELL Summer Academy and ELL after-school programs Instruction Utilize data to analyze, interpret and plan for ELL/Bilingual instruction; present and share data with stakeholders Oversee the district-wide implementation of best practices in ELL/Bilingual instruction, continuing professional development and turn-key training Collaborate for the implementation of RTI at all grade levels Research and coordinate review of Bilingual Education materials for use with ELL students and make recommendations for materials purchases Coordinate the purchase of Bilingual materials Oversee the translation of curriculum and materials Attend local and regional trainings for best practices in ELL/Bilingual programming and turn-key to district staff Supervise the Instructional Support Specialists for ELL/Bilingual Programs Coordinate and evaluate the ELL district testing program, including AVANT and STAR Spanish Coordinate summer curriculum writing projects and summer PD for ELL/Bilingual teachers Assist in the roll-out and implementation of curriculum and program materials across Dual Language/ELL/Bilingual programs Make recommendations for software for use in ELL/Bilingual programs and analyze data and usage Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/designee
