The Pawling Central School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health Aide to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting teachers and enhancing the learning experience for students, in an elementary school setting. This position involves working closely with children, including those with special needs, to foster a positive and engaging classroom environment.BASIS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month, Full-time, Benefit Eligible PositionRATE OF PAY: CSEA Agreement, Salary Grade E, $17.47 - $18.63/hourQUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; College level coursework in health-related sciences desirable; Experience working with young children; Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills; Demonstrate good oral and written communications; Ability to successfully complete required training courses; Current First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred.NATURE OF DUTIES: Provides direct services for students who have specific needs that may be described in IEPs and/or 504 Accommodation Plan; Duties may include escorting child in and out of building at start and end of school day; Assisting child at recess, lunch and during fire drills or other emergencies; Assisting with diapering.Provides care to students for minor illnesses and injuries in accordance with stated guidelines under the supervision of the School Nurse; Maintains and updates cumulative student health records, including school/private physicals, immunizations, illnesses, injuries, and medications; Assists in routine school physicals, height/weight, hearing and visions screening tests; Administers daily medication to students in accordance with written parent and/or physician instructions and school policy and procedures under specific supervision and monitoring of School Nurse.SkillsExperience in toddler care or early childhood education is preferred.Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.Knowledge of literacy education techniques and math concepts suitable for young learners.Ability to work collaboratively within a classroom setting while supporting diverse learning needs.Experience working with children, particularly children with exceptionalities is a plusPatience, empathy, and a genuine passion for fostering children's growth and development.Diverse and Bilingual Candidates are encouraged to apply.
