ANTICIPATED POSITION AVAILABLE 2026-2027 POSTING # 041-26-27 APPLICATION DEADLINE : April 10, 2026 POSITION: Reading Teacher REQUIREMENTS: Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in Reading and/or Literacy QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply COMMENTS: Must be creative and passionate instructional leader who possesses the ability to motivate students to strive for academic excellence. Successful candidates will work in a fast paced, challenging environment that is dedicated to academic and social success for all students. Collaborative team players that have the desire to become part of a dynamic team are encouraged to apply. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan lessons, keep records of grades, correspond with parents, etc. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans Provide instruction that is inclusive of the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served Support structured literacy classroom practices Provide intervention to small groups of students in grades first through fifth Provide reading evaluations for students who demonstrate the need for extra support services Provide individual remediation in reading in conjunction with IEP Reading and Language Arts goals Assist in coordinating and administering annual achievement and diagnostic testing Participate actively as a member of the building leadership team Provide consultation to classroom and support staff as needed Participate in school district Annual Review meetings Has the ability to interpret/utilize data to make informed instructional decisions REPORTS TO : Academic Director/Building Administration/Assistant Superintendent for Instruction SALARY : Salary range in accordance with PMCT contract LOCATION: TBD EFFECTIVE : September 1, 2026 EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS : All costs associated with these employment requirements are the responsibility of the employee: Fingerprint clearance from the NY State Department of Education (NYSED) Drug Screening Physical Examination Patchogue-Medford Schools is an equal opportunity employer.
