RESPONSIBILITIES: Expertise in literacy development and provide leadership in the following areas: literacy education research, literacy curriculum design and implementation, instructor training and professional development, and grant development and management.Provide oversight in the implementation of all Reading Services (AIS) K-12.Provide oversight of school-based and community-based PreK programs.Provide oversight of all Home-Schooling students K-12.Coordinate the preparation of status reports and presentations to teachers, administrators, district office personnel, and the Board of Education as directed.Analyze student achievement data and use the analysis to guide teams in improving various aspects of Tier I, II, and III reading support and implementation.Development and revisions to the District’s MTSS (RTI) Plan. Work with the Office of Registration in the enrollment of Pre-K students.Responsible for scheduling, budgeting, staff development, supervision, and evaluation of staff pertinent to assigned departments.Responsible for organizing and facilitating district-wide DIAL Screening and I-Ready screenings.Leads professional development opportunities for staff during departmental meetings and professional development periods.Coordinates and collaborates with other directors, administrators, and lead teachers.Prepares and monitors the instructional program budget for the areas of supervision.Evaluates the effectiveness of reading programs and recommends revisions and improvements as needed.Coordinates curriculum and assessment development.Coordinates all staff development with outside consultants for the departments under his/her supervision.Works collaboratively with the Director of Elementary Special Education, Director of Elementary Humanities, Director of Elementary STEM and Director of Elementary Bilingual Education/ENL.Assists the Human Resources Department with interviewing and recommending qualified candidates for instructional positions.Serves as the primary contact and liaison with families and the community regarding the areas of Reading Supports (Academic Intervention Supports), Home-Schooling compliance, and Pre-K Programs.Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Superintendent.
