RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides administrative supervision of the Social Studies and English Departments for Grades 7-12.Responsible for scheduling, budgeting, staff development, supervision, and evaluation of staff pertinent to his/her departments.Leads professional development opportunities for staff during departmental meetings and professional development periods.Coordinates and collaborates with other directors, administrators and lead teachers.Prepares and monitors the instructional program budget in Social Studies & English.Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional programs and recommends revisions and improvements as needed.Coordinates curriculum and assessment development, implementation and revision.Coordinates all staff development with outside consultants of the ELA and Social Studies DepartmentsResponsible for the oversight of all Regents scoring and scanning for the English and Social Studies DepartmentAssists the Human Resources Department with interviewing and recommending qualified candidates for instructional positions.Serves as the primary contact and liaison with families and the community regarding the secondary ELA and Social Studies instructional program.Provides materials as needed to support the secondary Social Studies and English instructional programPlease contact my office shouldl be notiRepresents the district at BOCES Social Studies and English coordinator meetings.Collects necessary data and prepares annual State required reports.Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Superintendent.
