The Ossining Union Free School District is seeking a collaborative, knowledgeable, and student-centered leader to serve as Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. This position provides strategic leadership and oversight of all student support services, with a primary focus on ensuring high-quality, compliant, and inclusive programming for students with disabilities across the full continuum of services. Key Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership for the district’s student services, including special education, related services, and support programs. Work collaboratively and provide oversight to the Director of School Counseling and the Director of Mental and Behavioral Health. Oversee the registration process and homeschooling. Ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and New York State Education Department requirements. Oversee and continuously improve the district’s continuum of special education services, ensuring programs are responsive to student needs and aligned with best practices in Special Education. Collaborate with building and district leaders to support inclusive practices and equitable access for all students. Supervise and evaluate staff within student services, including administrators, related service providers, and support personnel. Lead professional development initiatives focused on instructional practices, compliance, and student outcomes. Serve as a key liaison with families, community agencies, and external partners. Support the development and management of the student services budget. Qualifications New York State certification as a School District Leader (SDL), School District Administrator (SDA), or equivalent (required or preferred). New York State certification in Special Education (required or strongly preferred). Certification and/or experience as a School Psychologist (encouraged) Demonstrated expertise in special education law, regulations, and best practices across the continuum of services. Proven leadership experience in a school district setting, with a track record of improving student outcomes. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Preferred Attributes Experience working in diverse school communities, including districts with multilingual learners. Ability to build strong relationships and foster collaboration across departments. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action.
