Job Title: Director of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)Reports to: The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and InstructionPosition Summary:The STEM Director is a visionary leader responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a high-quality PK-12 STEM program that aligns with the district’s mission and goals. This role requires strategic oversight of curriculum, instructional practices, and professional development initiatives within the STEM disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The Director will collaborate with administrators, educators, and external partners to create and expand pathways that inspire student interest and achievement in STEM fields, promote equitable access to opportunities, and prepare students for success in college and careers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to innovation, equity, and continuous improvement, leveraging their expertise to elevate STEM education district-wide.Key Responsibilities:Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of district-wide PK-12 STEM programs and initiatives to enhance student learning and teacher effectiveness.Collaborate with school leaders, staff, and higher education partners to design STEM pathways, enhance program offerings, and increase student access to STEM-related opportunities.Direct the integration of curriculum and instructional strategies that create clear, structured pathways for student success in STEM disciplines.Lead the STEM Department to identify and implement innovative strategies and practices that elevate instructional quality and student achievement.Communicate clear expectations and establish measurable goals for the STEM Department's work, ensuring continuous improvement.Facilitate and coordinate activities with other departments and organizational units to align STEM initiatives with broader district priorities and instructional frameworks.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaborative partnerships that enhance STEM opportunities for students PK-12.Provide guidance and leadership in developing STEM-related professional learning opportunities, including conferences, STEM fairs, workshops, and research initiatives.Oversee and manage vendor relationships to support the comprehensive STEM strategy, including identifying and developing supplier partnerships.Develop and present an annual STEM report to the Board of Education, Superintendent, and the public, highlighting progress, achievements, and areas for growth.Provide direct leadership to key STEM initiatives and priorities that advance the district’s strategic goals.Additional Responsibilities:Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.Qualifications:Certification: New York State (NYS) School Administrator or NYS School District Administrator Certification, or eligibility.Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in education, with a strong track record of leadership in instructional programming, curriculum development, and school improvement.Commitment: Demonstrated commitment to fostering student success and prioritizing equitable access to STEM education.Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities in the areas of curriculum development, instructional design, school improvement, and staff capacity building.Knowledge Base: In-depth understanding of New York State Learning Standards and proven knowledge of effective instructional strategies and practices that align with STEM education goals.Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, and effective interpersonal and communication abilities to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Supervises:All certified and non-certified staff assigned to the schools.Evaluation:The performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the terms outlined in the current contract.Terms of Employment:This is a twelve (12) month administrative position. Compensation is established according to the provisions outlined in the Ossining Association of Administrators and Supervisors contract.
