SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Part-time MLL Intake Liaison will support and lead the initial screening process of potential Multilingual Learners to ensure that we, as a district, meet the diverse needs of our students. It will support equity in education, help in resource allocation, and ensure compliance with legal obligations, all with the ultimate goal of fostering student success.Reports to: The Director of Multilingual Learner Programs and World LanguagesThe Part-time MLL Intake Liaison will: Review registration packets and Home Language Questionnaires to identify students who require screening per CR Part 154 regulations. Schedule appointments with families to facilitate the initial screening of newly-enrolled students who are potential English Language Learners (ELLs) or Multilingual Learners (MLLS). Administer the NYSITELL, as appropriate. Conduct an orientation for families on district programs to deliver services to ELLs/MLLs per CR Part 154. Connects families with district and community resources Administer a home language literacy assessment/screening tool for students who speak a language other than English. Administer content-area assessment for secondary students. Schedule a Multi Literacy Screener (MLS) for students identified as potential Students with Limited or Interrupted Education (SLIFE). Communicate results of intake screening and assessments to the Director of Multilingual Learner Programs and appropriate administrators, ENL/BIL faculty and School Counselors. Request appropriate school records and documents relevant to ENL/BIL services for students transferring to the school district. Monitor enrollment in ENL and Bilingual Programs to enable district/ school administrators to make appropriate placement decisions for incoming students.
