The Director of Counseling and Student Support is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the district's comprehensive school counseling program, student support services, and related initiatives across the district. This position oversees the implementation of the OCSD Comprehensive School Counseling Plan and serves as the district's McKinney-Vento liaison. The position is also responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the district's comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Support; specifically in the realms of social emotional learning, mental health and wellness. Key Responsibilities:Develop, implement, and evaluate a district-wide comprehensive school counseling program aligned with NYSED guidelines to address the academic, career, and social-emotional development needs of all students. Supervise and support school counselors and school social workers K-12.McKinney-Vento Liaison: advocate for students experiencing homelessness.Coordinate the implementation and analysis of social-emotional learning (SEL) screening K-12.Collaborate with district leadership to develop and implement comprehensive Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).Oversee the district's tutoring program, ensuring equitable access for all students.Perform other supervisory and administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services. Qualifications:New York State certification in School Counseling, School Social Work, or School Psychology.New York State certification as a School District Leader (required at the time of application).Minimum of 5 years experience as a school counselor or related field and in educational leadership.Thorough understanding of NYSED Comprehensive School Counseling Plan requirements.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Experience with data analysis and program evaluation.
