QUALIFICATIONS: SDL or its equivalent, strong knowledge of Office of Civil Rights and special educationregulations, previous experience chairing CSE and CPSE meetings, prior administrative required,excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to form trusting relationshipswith all stakeholders.Primary Responsibilities:Ensures coordination and articulation of the district continuum of special education services and determines the need for additional supports or services.In collaboration with principals and the Superintendent, supervises and evaluates departmental staff.Ensures ongoing professional development is available for departmental personnel.Assists the principals and Personnel Office in the recruitment and assignment of departmental staff, to ensure hiring processes across buildings and districts are consistent with procedures established by the district.Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing special education and ensures that all requirements under State and Federal law and board policy are met.Establishes procedures for placement, evaluation, assignment, and re-evaluation of students with disabilities (special education and Section 504).Recommends changes in the special education instructional program for the district to the Superintendent of Schools.Coordinates the district’s tutoring, GED programs, and special education services for students enrolled in nonpublic schools.Completes annual State reports on the NYSED Indicators for Special Education.Ensures compliance with the Medicaid program.Develops and submits to the State and Federal Governments Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 611 and 619 grant.Continually monitors grant programs and expenditures to ensure that all grant funds are appropriate and within grant program requirements and proper procurement procedures.Acts as the district’s Medicaid Compliance Officer; inclusive of ensuring related service session notes are completed in accordance with regulations, UDO supervision is completed, prescriptions are submitted, and Medicaid consents are received timely to maximize reimbursement.Ongoing collaboration with CITI BOCES partners on student progress, growth, needs, and problem-solving.Performs all other duties assigned by the superintendent
