ONC BOCES is accepting applications for a Distance Learning Specialist at NCOC in Grand Gorge.Qualified candidates will have the below minimum Civil Service requirements:Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma andA. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a bachelor’s degree or higher in an academic subject or a related degree; ORB. Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an associate’s degree in an academic subject or related degree AND two (2) years teaching and/or training experience.Applicants should have strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators and staff across multiple districts.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with regional school districts to implement and enhance virtual learning programs.Provide technical support and training on learning management systems and digital curriculum.Troubleshoot issues and offer solutions to improve online learning environments.Starting Base Salary: $46,159, plus additional for education and experiencePaid holidays, generous sick and vacation time, NYS retirement, EAP, continuing education assistance, and exceptional insurance, including retiree health insurance, are available.For more information, please contact: humanresources@oncboces.orgDISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:The Distance Learning Specialist (DL Specialist) position has two main roles with is Online Learning and Technical Assistance. The work is performed under daily supervisor of the Distance Learning Coordinator with administrative supervisor by the Coordinator of ISS. Does related work as required.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)Procures vendors and online courses for student enrollment;Communicates with school districts and assists with questions for online programs;Registers and trains students in the use of their online courses;Mentors online students;Meets with students on a recurring basis to discuss progress, grades, and problems with their online course;Facilitates communication between students and online instructors;Communicates regularly with online instructors;Communicates regularly with teachers of record;Learns new skills and technology to assist and improve online learning program;Attends workshops and conferences for professional development;Meets regularly with Distance Learning Coordinator to coordinate services, share information and obtain guidance/instruction as needed;Periodic reports to the Distance Learning Scheduling Committee;Attends NYSDLC meetings throughout the year;Assists in tracking NYS Education requirements for online learning;FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service, ability to train others; ability to work effectively with students.
