The Oneida City School District is looking for an experienced school business professional to oversee the financial and operational functions of the district. The Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Support Services reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. Our ideal candidate will be able to:Demonstrate leadership and provide oversight of all Financial & Business Operations as well as Food Services, Buildings & Grounds, and Transportation.Prepare and present a responsible, balanced annual budget under the direction of the Superintendent and Board of Education.Effectively assist in the planning, construction phase and financial reporting of capital construction projects.Maintain accurate accounting records related to assets and inventory, including developing and overseeing efficient processes for the receipt, distribution and disposal of supplies and equipment.Serve as the designated liaison with the Auditor and other financial consultants.Supervise the accounting of school district funds and responsible for the timely and accurate submission of all financial reporting requirements, including state and federal grants.Supervise the payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable areas.Develop efficient and effective internal controls.Assists the labor negotiations process and compliance with bargaining unit & employee contracts.Serve as the purchasing agent.Coordinate and administer school district insurance programs.Evaluate the performance of personnel under their direct supervision.Carry out other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. What you bring to our team:NYSED Certification as School District Business Leader (SDBL) and 3 years minimum experience within that certification area.Civil Service classification may be considered for an exceptional candidate.Commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and visitors.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Expertise in all areas of NYS public school finance and operations, including but not limited to: GASB, Comptroller Guidance, Education Law, General Municipal Law, Civil Service Law, and School Board Policies.A proven track record of developing strong professional relationships with faculty, staff, supervisors, community members and vendors.
