SUMMARY: A Teaching Assistant Focused on Behavior possesses and displays the experience, ability, personality and energy to meet the everyday demands of students, curriculum, behavior, department, school and district. The Behavior Tech/Teaching Assistant will provide group and individual instruction as prescribed by the school Behavior Specialist or School Psychologist.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)• Provides instructional and behavioral services to individual or small groups of students under the direct supervision of appropriate teacher, school psychologist, behavior specialist and/or administrative personnel.• Assists in the development and preparation of instructional and behavior management materials.• Maintains appropriate records of students under the direction of appropriate teacher, school psychologist, behavior specialist and/or administrative personnel.• Assists teachers in behavior related instructional work as required.• Assists in administering assessments such as Functional Behavioral Assessments.• Assists in recording and using behavioral data. Including participation in the Behavior Intervention Plan Writing Process.• Assists students in the use of available instructional and behavioral resources.• Utilizes own special skills and abilities by assisting in behavioral programs or plans.• Provides supervision of students both in and outside of the classroom in accordance with building and district expectations.• Reports to school on time.• Maintains confidentiality.• Adheres to and enforces Code of Conduct.• Participates, when appropriate, in continuous professional growth and development related to the field of teaching and/or specific area(s) as assigned.• Attends required meetings and follows district policies, procedures and rules. Maintains positive, cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with students, staff, caregivers, colleagues, district personnel and community.• Uses excellent written and oral English skills when communicating with students, staff, caregivers and community.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises classroom and students.OTHER:Performs related duties as required or assigned.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:In accordance with New York State certification requirements.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:It is the professional obligation of the employee to secure and maintain all required certificates, licenses and registrations.
