Nyack Public Schools is seeking a highly organized and experienced administrator to serve in the transportation department. The district contracts with external transportation providers; therefore, this position is responsible for oversight, compliance monitoring, contract administration, and coordination of all student transportation services.The candidate will ensure that transportation services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with New York State Education Law, Commissioner’s Regulations, Article 19-A requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.This is a full-time, 12-month position (40 hours per week).Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and oversee the District’s transportation contract(s), ensuring vendor compliance with all safety and operational requirements.Monitor contractor performance, including on-time service, route efficiency, driver certification compliance, safety standards, and incident reporting.Review and approve routing plans in Transfinder to ensure compliance with NYS regulations and District policy.Serve as liaison between District administration, school staff, families, and the transportation provider.Investigate complaints, accidents, and safety concerns; coordinate corrective action when necessary.Ensure compliance with NYS Education Law §3635, Commissioner’s Regulations, and Article 19-A.Coordinate transportation services for general education, special education (in collaboration with CSE), non-public schools, McKinney-Vento eligible students, athletics, and extracurricular activities.Assist in the development of transportation specifications for bid/RFP processes.Monitor transportation-related budget lines and contract expenditures.Prepare reports and presentations for the Superintendent and Board of Education.Support emergency planning related to transportation and weather-related decision-making.Maintain required documentation and records for audits and state reporting.Other Requirements and Information: Residency in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut is a requirement for this position.This is a competitive position in Civil Service, and reachability on an eligible list following a civil service examination would be a requirement for permanent appointment.Salary and benefits:40-hour work week.Medical, Dental, and Vision.Time off, including vacation, personal, sick, and holiday time.New York State Pension eligibility.Salary range $53,043 – $80,560 plus additional compensation over 35 hours.
