Nyack Public Schools is seeking candidates for an anticipated probationary high school social studies teaching position for the 2024-2025 school year. Valley Cottage Elementary serves grades K-5 students in a vibrant and diverse community. Major Responsibilities and Duties:The duties and responsibilities of the STREAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STREAM and computer science in our Global Learning Commons/STREAM Lab. The STREAM teacher will collaborate with teachers to develop an interdisciplinary STREAM curriculum aligned to the Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards and the International Society for Technology in Education standards.The STREAM teacher shall:Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Math.Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for integrating STREAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula for grades K-5.Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, and online tools.Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study.Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STREAM learning experiences, which include programming, robotics, design software and 3D printing.Identify and apply educational and technology-related research, and instructional design principles in guiding use of technology in education.Identify, evaluate and implement classroom software.The STREAM teacher will identify resources, plan, and design staff development activities to support professional growth in learning technologies.Participate in professional development experiences that allow him or her to observe, evaluate, and apply the use of technology to support instruction.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree from an accredited college/universityEducational Technology Specialist Certification (Preferred but not required)Expert level of technology experience and 21st century learning, understanding and applicationDeep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instructionStrong Google Apps skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites)Experience (or familiarity with) applications and tools such as, but not limited to: 3D printing, robotics, Scratch, Makey-Makey, and digital design software.Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.
