Nyack Public Schools is seeking candidates for an anticipated probationary elementary STREAM teaching position for the 2025-2026 school year. Upper Nyack Elementary School serves grades K-5 students in a vibrant and diverse community. Major Responsibilities and Duties:The duties and responsibilities of the STREAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STREAM and computer science in our Global Learning Commons/STREAM Lab. The STREAM teacher will develop a STREAM curriculum aligned to the Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards and the International Society for Technology in Education standards.The STREAM teacher shall:Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Math.Integrate technology, engineering design, and creative problem-solving into all aspects of instruction.Foster a collaborative and inquiry-based learning environment.Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STREAM learning experiences, which include programming, robotics, design software and 3D printing.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of all learners.Create opportunities to showcase student work to the school community.Participate in professional development experiences that allow him or her to observe, evaluate, and apply the use of technology to support instruction.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced degree from an accredited college/universityEducational Technology Specialist Certification (Preferred but not required)Expert level of technology experience and 21st century learning, understanding and applicationDeep knowledge of content standards, effective instructional strategies, and assessment driven instructionStrong Google Apps skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites)Experience (or familiarity with) applications and tools such as, but not limited to: 3D printing, robotics, Scratch, Makey-Makey, and digital design software.Highly effective communication, listening, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Effective written, verbal, and technology-based communication skills.
