JOB DESCRIPTIONThe facilitator is a guide or discussion leader for the monthly Undoing Racism or Getting to the Root Roundtable meetings held each month in the District's school buildings. The facilitators will meet monthly with district admin personnel to receive staff development and prepare for their monthly building level meeting. It is expected that the facilitator possesses a clear understanding of the principles taught in the People's Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISB) Undoing Racism Workshop and how they connect to the district's mission statement and promotion of equity. The facilitator assists the participants in the development of a deeper understanding of the analysis of race and its impact on student learning through group discussion process. The facilitator must have attended Getting to the Root/Undoing Racism in the last 3 years.Building level meetings must meet a required participation level listed below for the meeting to be held:10 participants Duties and Responsibilities:Attend monthly facilitator staff development and briefing meetings.Attend each District-wide Roundtable meeting.Prepare prior to each monthly Roundtable meeting session objectives and supporting activities, materials, discussion questions, etc.Schedule building Roundtable meetings and ensure meeting space is available.Keep attendance records of each monthly Roundtable meeting.Create a safe and empowering environment to enhance group participationModel the behavior and attitudes you want the group members to employ.Provide positive feedback to participants for joining the discussion.Ask open ended questions and refrain from injecting judgment and your own biases.Be competent at making observations and recognizing when interactions, situations or group dynamics change, and encourage trust and openness in all group discussions.Create/refine/explore a different narrative to assist group members to become willing participants in initiatives and incentives for developing structures of accountability and change in their schools.Collect, analyze and submit data to the Director of Equity, Inclusion and Innovation.Create goals to build for capacity for the Undoing Racism Meetings.In addition to applying on OLASPlease apply to humanresources@nyackschools.org by September 1, 2023.
