POSITION: Assistant Superintendent for Finance and OperationsREPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsCERTIFICATION: Must possess NYS School District Finance Leader, School Business Administrator, School District Leader or School District Administrator SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONSOVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:The Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations leads, plans, organizes, directs, controls and coordinates all finance and operational activities of the district including budget, general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, attendance accounting, warehousing, risk management, purchasing, technology, transportation, maintenance, facilities and food services in accordance with state law, board policies and administrative regulations; and does related work as required. KNOWLEDGEIn-depth knowledge and experience in public sector accounting and management of the overall financial operations of a school district, including NYSED regulationsExperience/knowledge overseeing buildings and grounds, transportation, and food serviceExperience allocating resources equitably and aligned to the District's mission and strategic goals in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.Analyze and supervise all audits (e.g., annual, internal, claims, Office of State Comptroller, or other) and prepare necessary responses and corrective action plans to governmental agencies.Facilitate the Audit and Finance Committee with the Board of Education Chairperson(s).Ability to develop the school district budget.Oversee and steward capital projects.Participate in collective bargaining negotiationsOversee all accounting operations including receivables, payables, payroll, general ledger, and internal control procedures.
