Nyack Public Schools is seeking candidates who have NYS certification for a full-time Elementary Math Specialist position for the 2023-24 school year.Role Description:Math Specialists provide leadership for the school’s entire math program by creating and maintaining a long-term staff development plan and process that supports both the development and implementation of the math program at a Tier 1 level. In addition, specialists support the Early Math Initiative by working with primary teachers and students.This process will establish a culture that embraces collaboration as an asset and develops individual and group capacities to engage in creative problem solving and self-reflection. These partnerships, as part of a professional learning community, provide opportunities for all teachers to grow as professionals and, in so doing, improve instructional outcomes for all students.• Support all teachers and students with materials, resources, and district requirements• Provide early math supports to students• Model lessons in classrooms across the school building• Analyze student work• Help implement the math curricula• Be a liaison between teachers and administration• Conduct data analysis (state testing as well as data wall information) and create data presentations and reports for administration• Facilitate bi-weekly planning meetings and professional development sessions with teams• Provide individual teacher support as needed• Support District initiatives • Support all teachers with lessons in the classroom, time management, scheduling, and student grouping• Provide feedback on classroom structures and instructional strategies• Conduct short-term collaborative cycles with individual teachers, groups or grade levels• Foster Professional Learning Communities• Co-create curricula and lead math curriculum teams• Teach primary students in push in and pull out capacities• Assess students per individual requests, RTI, or progress monitoring needs• Participate as active members of the RTI team/process• Consult with math specialists to support the success of all students• Facilitate and plan for state testing (NYS Math, Field tests, and Computer Based Testing)Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
