POSITION/TITLE: PrincipalRESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent of SchoolsSUPERVISES: Building Assigned Faculty and StaffSCHEDULE: 12 Month PositionASSIGNMENT: Glencliff Elementary SchoolGlencliff Elementary School serves approximately 360 students in grades K-5 with a faculty of 33 teachers and 22 support staff. Located in Rexford, Glencliff students come from the northern part of the district, including parts of Clifton Park, Glenville, Niskayuna and Rexford as well as the village of Alplaus. Glencliff looks to create an environment where students can learn, grow and explore together; be safe, respectful and responsible; work hard, reflect and challenge themselves; and communicate and work together as a school community. SUMMARY: The Principal is responsible for the administrative oversight and planning all phases of instructional leadership for the school including educational programming, administration, budgetary planning, discipline, and counseling services.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide oversight for the day-to-day operations of the assigned building including the safety and security of all students, faculty and staffProvide direct supervision and leadership for the building’s administrative teamProvide a direct link of communication between the building and the District OfficeMeet with all district directors and teacher leaders on a regular basis to set and access curricular goals and initiativesEvaluate instruction through the observation and supervision of all professional staffWork directly with faculty to coordinate all instructional needsAssist in the development of the Master Schedule for the building and in the coordination of shared staffLead in the identification of curricular needs and the decision-making on curriculum changeDetermine staffing needs and procedures to ensure highest quality staff selection and staff developmentWork collaboratively with staff to develop and plan agendas for faculty meetingsSupervise and develop the Safe Schools Plan and implementation of the SAVE lawServe as the Dignity for All Students Act coordinator for reports and investigations related to student harassment mattersCoordinate and conduct building safety procedures in conjunction with New York State recommendations and district policiesDevelop and administer the building budget in conjunction with district staffSupervise and monitor the academic progress and needs of the building’s student bodyMaintain all data related to the Instructional Support programs including 504 AccommodationsWork closely with parent and community groups to ensure open communication between respective groups and the buildingServe on various building level and district-wide committeesRepresent the building at Board of Education meetings, Leadership Team meetings, Principals meetings, PTO and PTO Council, and other parent meetings, as neededRepresent the building in area associations and organizations, i.e. Suburban Council, BOCESFacilitate the coordination and analysis of all achievement data in impact instructionCollaborate with other building principal colleagues to implement District goalsSupervise the process of distributing, collecting, and submitting data for the annual BEDS reportDevelop and update the handbook on policies and procedures for the buildingInterpret the obligations related to all collective bargaining agreements and represent the district's interests in resolving any disputesComplete the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) process of the observation of classroom teachers as assignedSupervise support staff personnel in conjunction with the other members of the administrative teamSupport and promote all student curricular and co-curricular activitiesComplete and submit all documents related to district requirements and New York State mandatesPerforms other duties, as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: Current New York State Certification as School Building Leader, School Administrator/Supervisor or School District AdministratorMinimum of five (5) years of teaching or student support services related fieldMinimum of three (3) years of experience as a school building administratorNOTE: Selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
