The Niskayuna Central School District has an anticipated opening and is now accepting applications for a Middle School Principal.ASSIGNMENT: Iroquois Middle School; 12 months per yearFunctions of the Middle School Principal• Administer the operations of the middle school, supporting the vision and mission of the Niskayuna Central School District• Provide leadership to the students to foster a positive school climate; work to identify the needs and talents of students and provide programs to meet those needs; provide opportunities for children to involve themselves in the school community; establish clear, consistent expectations and maintain communications with parents.• Assist in the recruitment and selection of new teachers by seeking outstanding candidates interested in teaching at the middle school level.• Create an environment in which all employees can operate at optimum efficiency; establishing and maintaining strong communication with all faculty/staff members.• Schedule, supervise, and evaluate the assignments of faculty and other personnel in the building; provide direction for strengthening instructional techniques and procedures where indicated.• Evaluate the middle school program using measurable data. Work to coordinate the administration of all NYS exams given at the middle school level.• Develop and maintain good relations with all stakeholders, including the public.• Ensure the maximum use of resources in the building by developing and interpreting immediate and long-range needs of the building programs. Participate in the development of the annual building budget.• The principal, working with the Director of Operations and Maintenance and the head custodian, is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the school plant.• Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as a New York State School Building Leader (SBL).NOTE: Selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance withSAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.The Niskayuna Central School District is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employeeor applicant for employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age.
