City School District of New Rochelle Embracing Diversity: Driving Success Henry Barnard School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Grade 1 General Education Teacher for a leave replacement position in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a special education teacher and related service providers to create an inclusive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning environment that supports the growth of all learners. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instructional practices in literacy and mathematics, a commitment to differentiated instruction, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with young children and families. Responsibilities: Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards Collaborate effectively with the ICT special education teacher to co-plan, co-teach, and assess student learning Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of diverse learners Implement balanced literacy, phonics, and foundational math instruction appropriate for Grade 1 learners Utilize formative assessment data to guide instruction and intervention Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations Participate in grade-level planning meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Maintain accurate records related to student performance, attendance, and communication Support the implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, and classroom supports in collaboration with the special education teacher and support staff Qualifications New York State Certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1–6) required Experience working in an ICT or inclusive classroom setting preferred Knowledge of early literacy development, phonics instruction, and differentiated instructional practices Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff Commitment to creating a nurturing and equitable learning environment for all students Preferred Qualities Experience with co-teaching models and collaborative planning Understanding of MTSS and data-driven instruction Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexibility, professionalism, and a positive mindset NYS Certification is required at time of application EOE: Minority and Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply Please do not send resumes to Human Resources: They will not be accepted.
