City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a leave replacement for a High School Visual Arts Teacher for 2025-2026 School Year Reports to: Principal; Director of Performing & Visual Arts Classroom.The Responsibilities Include:Plans, develops, and carries out a quality program of sequential instruction aligned to National and State Arts Standards in Visual Arts for High School Students Grade 9-12 Instruction of Studio Art, AP Art, and specialized PAVE Visual Art CoursesProvide opportunities for students to achieve visual arts through two and three-dimensional projectsFamiliarity and facility with art materials including but not limited to watercolors, colored pencils, cray pas, clay, clay tools, plaster, brushes, drawing pencils, drawing paper, etc.Understands and can demonstrate techniques of a variety of “masters”Provide individual and small and large group instruction to a variety of studentsAbility to adapt instruction to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities Instructs students in the proper care and use of art materialsKnows and can apply the elements of art and principles of designOrganizes the use, care, and storage of art materials and equipment to promote efficient use and minimize loss or spoilage of such materialsRecommend annually the purchase of classroom art suppliesPlans and presents art displays and exhibitions designed to show students’ artwork at the school and within the communityMaintains appropriate records of student achievement for all students assigned to classes in the programCollaborates with department colleagues districtwide and within the assigned schools to maintain and enhance the quality of arts instructionCommunicates with parents/guardians of students on a regular basisWorks with building and district administration to develop appropriate achievement goals for students in each grade level or groupCollaborates with colleagues within and outside the arts department in the district on school or district initiatives Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Performing & Visual Arts or building administration.Perform such other duties as directed by the Director of Performing & Visual Arts or building administration.
