An ideal candidate for this position is someone who can take a Teaching for Learning Approach to apply developmentally appropriate physical literacy and health literacy concepts to improve each student’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. The anticipated probationary position of Health/Physical Education Teacher at New Rochelle High School will begin on 9/1/2024.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Utilizes a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure lessons are differentiated for varied abilities, language learners, and students with disabilities.Incorporates formative and summative data analysis into lesson planning to address individual learning needs and interests.Develops unit plans that include a well-rounded approach to the domains of learning and provide instruction that inspires students to take on the appropriate level of challenge.Infuses culturally relevant practices into lesson plans and curriculum design that reflect all students' backgrounds and experiences.Possesses a range of knowledge of movement concepts, tactics, and strategies across a variety of team sports, and leisure activities.Integrates diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources to broaden students' understanding of the world and nurtures a sense of belongingKnowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding physical education, as well as health education.Utilizes effective classroom management techniques and organizational skills. ? Possesses strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Seeks out opportunities for professional development and solicits feedback on practice from both supervisors and colleagues.Establish a role within the department for decision-making and help to ensure that such decisions are based on the highest professional standards.Must be NYS Certified in Health/Physical EducationRequirements & Qualifications:New York State Teaching Certificate-Physical EducationNew York State Teaching Certificate-Health EducationBaccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Physical Education/Health Education.
