Jeanett MedinaMunicipal Civil Service Commission515 North Avenue- 1st FloorNew Rochelle, NY, 10801 DISTINGUISED FEATURES OF THE CLASS:Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Business, the Director of Transportation is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising all aspects of a safe, efficient, and economical transportation program including scheduling of bus runs, employee work assignments, vehicle maintenance and safety, compliance with laws and regulations related to school bus operations and required reporting. General supervision is exercised over transportation personnel. Must be able to interact and communicate with parents, staff, building administrators, municipal/state personnel and bus contracting company personnel on a regular basis. Does related work as required.ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years' experience supervising, dispatching, preparing time schedules, and laying out of routes for pupil transportation; ORAn Associate’s degree and four (4) years’ experience supervising, dispatching, preparing time schedules, and laying out of routes for pupil transportation; ORGraduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma issued by the State Education Department of New York and six (6) years’ experience supervising, dispatching, preparing time schedules, and laying out of routes for pupil transportation.
