Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues to have a lasting impact on the educational setting. Candidates are considered based on their demonstrated ability to do the following: Collaborate with ELA co-teacher to prepare culturally relevant lessons that are student-centered and address the needs of diverse learners.Collaborate with ELA co-teacher to develop and implement units of study by using the NYS English as a New Standards and Common Core Learning Standards.Establish and maintain a rapport with students and families that fosters a classroom environment conducive to learning and addresses behavioral concerns using a restorative approach.Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.Use systems to maintain accurate records that are visible to students and families.Attend staff and in-service meetings/workshops as required.Actively pursue personal and professional growth opportunitiesPromote and abide by school procedures, policies, and directives in administrative and educational matters as established by the school administration and board of education. New York State certification in TESOL is required. K-12 ELA certification is preferred, but not required.
