This is an anticipated opening. Supervisory RelationshipThis position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services. . Position SummaryThe Executive Director of Student Support Services works in service to the Department of Student Support Services under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services. As a key member of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Team, the Executive Director of Student Support Services will collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent to coach, support, and supervise the directors of the department to ensure the effective design and implementation of services in support of the whole child; provide targeted leadership that enables directors to move the PreK-12 mental health, physical health/wellness, and social-emotional learning improvement efforts forward toward the advancement of high quality expanded learning opportunities, plus attainment of the school district’s student achievement goals; and promote equity by focusing on closing the knowledge, achievement, and opportunity gaps for traditionally underserved students.This work is inclusive of ensuring related strategic plan goals and objectives are met; support the implementation and assessment of all departments under the division; serve as the lead grant writer and grant manager for all major grants; and manage, operationalize, and support functions of the department. He/she will serve as the direct supervisor of the department's directors and co-facilitate evaluations with the Assistant Superintendent. The position requires excellent communication skills, cross-functional teaming, and leadership at the executive level. The Executive Director of Student Support Services is an essential resource to increase student achievement and well-being. Essential FunctionsExecutive Director of Student Support Services will: Co-plan, direct, and monitor Student Support Service programs of the City School District of New Rochelle, which includes Social Emotional and Expanded Learning, Counseling Services, Psychological Services, Medical Services, Family and Community Engagement, Student Registration, and School Social Work Services. Assist with the implementation of strategic goals/objectives related to all Student Support Services Programs. Oversee program implementation and provides adequate support in the procurement of material and equipment for all Student Support Services Programs. Calendarize and conduct program reviews as part of a continuous improvement process. Provide support to directors and school leaders in planning for improvement. Develop systems and structures to support mental health, physical health/wellness, and social-emotional learning. Integrate and leverage a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) with wraparound services. Communicate information on services and regulations to school personnel, parents, and the Board of Education for the purpose of understanding services. Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of district alternative education initiatives and extended learning. Assists in communicating to the stakeholders of The City School District of New Rochelle all relevant information about the Student Support Services Programs. Represent the department, when assigned, in the absence of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services. Represent the District, when assigned, in social, organizational, ceremonial, political, or other functions, as needed. Assist school leadership in the mediation and resolution of parent/student concerns and complaints within established guidelines and policy. Support in the preparation of responses to parents and community members. Support the creation, implementation, evaluation, and adjustment of data-informed plans for improving programs. Assist, as assigned, in the recruiting, hiring, supervising, and evaluating of related staff Serve as the direct supervisor of the department's directors and co-facilitate evaluations with the Assistant Superintendent. Coordinate, as assigned, with outside agencies to provide services to students and staff for the purpose of offering appropriate services. Support in the preparation and attend Board of Education meetings to present Student Support Services programs, policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. As a key member of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Leadership Team, the Executive Director for Student Support Services will collaborate with other central office and school-based leaders to build support systems in service of the school district’s improvement efforts and priorities. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to plan, organize and develop systems and structures to support mental health, physical health/wellness, and social-emotional learning. Ability to develop and integrate a behavioral and social emotional Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) with wraparound services. Ability to plan, organize, and direct a high-quality social emotional and expanded learning comprehensive PreK-12 education program aimed at preparing every student for success. Experience with procedural guidelines related to high quality expanded learning programs, knowledge of effective instructional practices and curriculum trends, knowledge of current applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to lead continuous improvement efforts toward identified targets by facilitating systemic change strategies, with an emphasis on progressive practices. Commitment to equity in educational opportunities for students and leadership opportunities for staff, especially regarding members of traditionally underserved and underrepresented groups. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents/guardians, the community, institutions of higher education, business leaders, and administrative staff. Strong knowledge of effective practices in curriculum and instruction, program evaluation, leadership development, school improvement, budget management, and data analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of state/federal regulations and accreditation requirements governing public education programs.
