City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking candidates to fill an anticipated Social Studies position effective September 1, 2023.Qualifications: A valid NYS teaching certificate in Social Studies (Grades 7-12). High school experience and a strong, student-centered teaching philosophy. Master’s Degree preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with peers and administrative team. Ability to plan and deliver effective lessons that include a variety of resources and interventions. Able to differentiate instruction for students at a wide variety of levels and abilities. Ability to motivate, engage, challenge and instruct students with a wide variety of teaching strategies and use of multimedia resources. Comfortable communicating with linguistically diverse students, parents and guardians. Strong familiarity with NYS Social Studies Framework and the NYS Social Studies Regents Exams. Understanding of the latest pedagogical and research developments/initiatives in the Social Studies content area and in overall teaching practice. A core belief that the Social Studies content is best addressed through literacy practices that support reading, writing, listening, and speaking.Desired Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Effective use of formative assessments to enhance learning.
