City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a High School Credit Recovery Mentor-Teacher. Description: The NRHS credit recovery mentor-teacher provides support to the students enrolled in the credit recovery program. The teacher will provide instructional support based on individual needs and necessary learning experiences while enrolled in the program. Job Expectationsz:Prepare the classroom to provide online learning modules, activities, assignments, assessments, and materials that follow and support the curriculum.Provides timely feedback to allow the students to continue making progress towards the completion of the course (s).Meet with students outside of classroom instruction time in order to provide extra support needed.Collaborates and communicates with colleagues, students, and families to determine best practices and strategies for improving student achievement.Attends classroom management issues and concerns.Regularly reports student progress, grades and completes other record-keeping duties.Assist in the achievement of the short and long-term educational goals of the students.Collaborate with credit recovery and/ alternate and regular education teachers to ensure best practices are followed.Work collaboratively with counselors, department chairs, and directors to update credit recovery description within the course guide, ensuring that all online curriculum guidelines are met.Work collaboratively with educational software company and school administration to monitor the usage and effective implementation of courseware relating to credit recovery.Coordinate the enrollment of students into the credit recovery courseware.Create and coordinate training and staff development on credit recovery software and policies.Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.Skills:Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills in order to relate to students, parents, staff, administration, and community. Demonstrates ability to negotiate effective working relationships, and develop resolutions to conflict.Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.Ability to work independently and within a team while maintaining cooperative working relationships.Possess highly developed technology skills.
