City School District of New RochelleEmbracing Diversity: Driving Success The City School District of New Rochelle is seeking a Middle School Music Teacher.Music Teacher, Music Technology/General Music, Middle School Reports to: Director of Performing & Visual Arts, Building Principal Performance Responsibilities:Plans, develops, and carries out a quality program of sequential instruction aligned to National and State Core Arts Standards in music for middle school students, 6-8;Provide opportunities for students to achieve in music through music technologyPromotes the acquisition of music literacy and musicianship skillsPrepares music assemblies for 6-8 by grade levelPresents periodic evening concerts to the school and community featuring student performersMaintains appropriate records of student achievement for all students assigned to classes in the program;Collaborates with department colleagues districtwide and within the assigned school(s) to maintain and enhance the quality of music instruction.Communicates with parents/guardians of students regularly.Facilitates the students’ and the director’s participation in county, state, and national programs through WCSMA, NYSSMA, NAfME, and WCALA as appropriateWorks with building and district administration to develop appropriate achievement goals for students in each grade level or groupAligns instruction with the National/State Core Arts Standards;Collaborates with colleagues within and outside the arts department in the district on school or district initiatives.Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Performing & Visual Arts or building administration. Qualifications:Holds New York State Certification in MusicDemonstrated excellence in teachingDemonstrated knowledge of musical repertoire appropriate for middle school studentsSuperior organizational skillsUnderstands successful techniques for motivating middle school l studentsDemonstrated professional performance proficiency on a musical instrument or voiceDemonstrated skills in word processing, spreadsheet, databases, and music software programs as needed.
