Position SummaryThis position is responsible for directing and overseeing completion of intellectual, academic, and social emotional assessments and re-evaluations of students referred to the Committee on Special Education (CSE) at the School at Northeast and Neil Hellman School. Will lead the Committee on Special Education meetings and provide oversight to the NYS Special Education Regulations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Conduct intellectual, academic and social emotional assessmentsConduct and lead Committee on Special Education meetings as CSE ChairpersonConsult and collaborate with staff on Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans and Individualized Education PlansConsult and collaborate with staff of FBA, BIP and IEP requirementsPresent evaluations and results to staff and parents the implications of results and resulting classification decisionsConsult with staff regarding behavioral, emotional and/or educational difficulties of specific studentsProvide training to all teaching staff on IEP development on a regular basis to meet state and Federal Special Education regulationsEnsure initial, annual, and intermittent IEP meetings are held in compliance with all state and Federal regulationsResearch and circulate the latest NYS Special Education RegulationsEducation and/or ExperienceRequires a Masters degree and at least five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience.Certification/LicensureRequires NYS Certification as a School Psychologist.
